Damian Willemse.
Many a South African schoolboy rugby player’s hero. Springbok, Stormer and Western Province fullback that plays a vital part in every game he’s part of. Even though he was not initially named as part of South Africa’s 2019 Rugby World Cup squad, he was called up to replace the injured Jesse Kriel and scored his first try against Canada.
But before that, there was the u/16 Grant Khomo Week, the u/18 Craven Week, the South African Schools squad and there was running out in the Paul Rooms Gymnasium jersey at the 2016 Absa Wildeklawer tournament.
Which begs the question. Will you spot the next Damian at this year’s Absa Wildeklawer?
