A group of enthusiastic young Voortrekkers in grades 8 and 9 embarked on an unforgettable journey of learning, teamwork and adventure at Wildeklawer last month. They joined a larger camp of 70 participants at the Bodemwater Camp terrain and spent three days at Wildeklawer farm near Barkly West.
Camping under the stars
The group experienced the thrill of camping in nature, hiking over 12 km and spending nights around the campfire. Despite chilly nights and early mornings, they discovered just how much they could achieve when they pushed their limits.
Sharing knowledge
They explored a wide range of topics, including water management, environmental conservation and ceremonial traditions. Experts like Coen Visser (geologist), Annemarie van Heerden (botanist) and Manie Pickard from Wildeklawer shared their knowledge, inspiring the youth to connect with nature in meaningful ways.
Fun with teamwork
The camp was filled with exciting activities like mud challenges, traditional games and a lively campfire concert. The experience helped these young individuals build friendships, develop new skills and enjoy the beauty of Wildeklawer farm.
A huge thank you to everyone who made this camp a success. Wildeklawer is proud to support activities that nurture young minds and inspire future leaders.
