The participants of the Absa Wildeklawer 0.19 netball and rugby teams embarked on a farm visit to the Wildeklawer farm, just outside Barkly-West. Wildeklawer is the main sponsor of the sport tournament.
Cassie Carstens, operations manager of Absa Wildeklawer Sport, says the teams were given an opportunity to gain insight into the farm’s production process, exploring the pack houses and witnessing potato and carrot cultivation.
“It was an opportunity to learn about the farm’s operations and gain a deeper understanding of agricultural practices,” says Carstens.
“We also wanted to bring everyone together in a relaxed setting. Under the shade of the large trees, they enjoyed a leisurely lunch, fostering a sense of camaraderie and providing a much-needed break from the intensity of the games. It was a time for everyone to unwind, connect and rejuvenate their spirits amidst the serene surroundings of the farm.”
The teams departed with a broader knowledge of agriculture and cherished memories of a day well spent amidst nature’s embrace.
